Summary

The Program Manager role is a critical position for management of GMI’s customers and front-end business operations.  The position involves working directly with assigned customer accounts, along with GMI Business Development Managers to help oversee run rate production programs and newly launched sales opportunities. This customer-focused role demands a proactive and strategic mindset, solid business acumen, as well as excellent communication skills - to effectively manage the success of programs, their profitability and customer satisfaction.

The Program Manager position relies heavily on strong leadership and interpersonal skills.  It requires the ability to problem solve, make well-thought decisions and accurately, clearly communicate to all parties, while operating with a solid time management and controlled sense of urgency.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage end-to-end aspects of assigned customer run rate production programs.
  • Responsible for communications with customer, alignment with internal GMI operations and overall customer satisfaction – matching their business needs and objectives.
  • Relationship development with key customer contacts at all levels of their business.
  • Organize and input forecast, order processing, program pricing/quotes, customer surveys, supplier scorecards, pricing updates, service needs and other requested requirements.
  • Monitor and improve profitability. Manage inventory programs. Awareness of contractual obligations with customer.
  • Monitor sales revenue and push to meet and exceed forecasted sales goals.
  • Support customer visits, coordinating engineering reviews, developing proposals, and scheduling customer audits.
  • Engage with the New Program Introduction (NPI) team and Business Development Managers to support new customer opportunities within existing accounts or with new target OEMs.
  • Close collaboration with all GMI departments, including Sourcing, Operations, Engineering, Accounting, Quality, Business Development and Shipping.
  • Monitor program life cycle. Coordinate end-of-life issues, engineering change approvals and long-term health of the program. Review end-of-life trackers and manage transition to the recommended replacement.
  • Create and maintain detailed Program Action Plans for all program activities. Weekly program calls and communication.
  • Lead, define, and implement continuous improvement activities for program management role and tools.
  • Utilize data analytics for decision-making and process optimization.
  • Travel is light, expected to be around 10% of the time or less..

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of a four-year degree or more than five years of experience with many of the sales functions described above.
  • Preferred relevant experience in inside sales or direct customer management within a technical or manufacturing environment.

  • Occasional willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as required.
