This OEM created a new type of small form factor slide scanner that will revolutionize slide scanning for medical applications.  With the decision to go with additive manufacturing they were able to adhere to their strict timeline for a trade show release, maintaining a complex geometry.  The design was able to be tweaked and reprinted quickly, saving weeks for production.  For medical equipment, demand can fluctuate with regularity; imagine being able to hold inventory in digital form and create physical products exactly when you need them.
